The Story that Writes Itself
Large scale etchings built up over two years through a floor wax lifting process that I sort of helped to pioneer, at least at this scale and to this degree of tenacity. The technique is an inaccurate one, allowing the process to take centre stage as a formal consideration. A drawing would be made, aquatinted, and then sanded back into the plate to create a sense of becoming. The history of each previous drawing informed the next until a space formed upon the surface. Each image measures 72" by 48".
